Hero Section

The Hero Section & Legibility

Feedback

The blue text over the main image is difficult to read, and the welcome text needs updating.

Our Solution

Legibility: Rather than changing our core brand colors, we will add a very subtle, dark gradient (a "scrim") to the bottom of the image. This ensures the white and blue text is perfectly readable regardless of what image or video is playing in the background.

Copy: We will keep the hero text punchy and ensure the actual product name ("Friends of Highclere Castle") remains the focal point. We will move the longer, detailed welcome paragraph slightly further down the page where it has room to breathe.

Why we made this choice: If the product name isn't immediately visible, visitors don't know what they are buying. Using a subtle dark gradient is an established web design standard that guarantees text legibility on all screens without forcing us to compromise the site's carefully chosen heritage colour palette.

Content Sections

Homepage Length

Feedback

Requests to add a new Trailer/Teaser video section and a Cooking & Gardening section to the homepage.

Our Solution

We will upgrade the current video grid into a broader "Experience Highclere" media section. The large, featured video will be the new Trailer. Alongside it, we will include smaller "free previews" representing the three core pillars: one Friday Film, one Book Club excerpt, and one Cooking & Gardening video.

Why we made this choice: On the web, extremely long pages lose buyers—every unnecessary scroll drops a percentage of your visitors. By consolidating the requests into a single unified media grid, we provide full representation of the membership's value (including Cooking & Gardening) without bloating the page or distracting from the goal of getting them to join.

Social Proof

News vs. Testimonials

Feedback

Replace the Latest News section with Reviews, and clarify if the top banner is scrolling.

Our Solution

We will completely replace the large "Latest News" block on the homepage with a Testimonials/Reviews section, and move the full News page to the About section.

However, we will keep the small, continuously scrolling "News Ticker" near the top of the page.

Why we made this choice: Social proof (reviews) directly drives conversions, making it far more valuable on a landing page than general news articles. However, retaining the scrolling ticker is vital; it subconsciously signals to the visitor that the membership is a thriving, active community, taking up almost no space to do so.

Numbers & Stats

The Use of Statistics

Feedback

Remove specific, small numbers (e.g., "224 films") from the site.

Our Solution

We will strip out the scattered, granular numbers across all the lower cards and buttons (e.g., changing "Browse all 224 films" to simply "Browse all films") for a cleaner aesthetic.

However, we will retain one generalized summary statistic tucked quietly inside the hero section (e.g., "Over 200 films and live events").

Why we made this choice: Scattered, highly specific numbers (like '224') read like a tech software feature list, which clashes with a premium heritage brand. However, keeping one generalized summary tucked in the hero is a crucial sales tool—it immediately proves the immense value and backlog of content to a new visitor without feeling like a math problem.

Pricing

Pricing Display & Buttons

Feedback

Lead with monthly pricing and simplify the join buttons.

Our Solution

We will update the membership tier cards to highlight the monthly equivalent cost in large text (e.g., "£10 per month"), with the actual annual billing terms clearly stated beneath it. We will also simplify the final call-to-action buttons to read "Join as Friend" or "Join as Patron".

Why we made this choice: Leading with the monthly cost lowers the perceived barrier to entry—a proven standard in modern e-commerce that directly increases sign-ups. Simplifying the buttons reduces visual noise, making the choice feel easier and less transactional.

Assurances

Tone and Technical Assurances

  • Human Element: As requested, we have removed any stylistic elements (like the long-dashed lines) that felt "AI-generated." The copy and design will retain the warmth and human element expected from Lady Carnarvon and Highclere Castle.
  • Mobile & iPad Responsiveness: We absolutely guarantee that the final build will be fully responsive across all devices. We have already corrected the critical mobile failures present in the original £50k mockup, ensuring the site scales perfectly whether viewed on a 4K desktop monitor, an iPad, or a smartphone in portrait mode.
